Deck builder in Venus, TX

Venus sits on clay soil that expands when wet and contracts when dry, shifting fence lines. We set posts 3–4 feet deep with gravel footings to anchor against soil movement. Proper drainage around posts prevents water pooling that accelerates rot in wood and rust in metal.

Vinyl resists humidity and requires no sealing. Cedar looks beautiful but needs annual sealing to prevent mildew in humid summers. Wrought iron must be powder-coated and inspected annually for rust. We recommend vinyl for low maintenance or cedar with a maintenance plan for traditional appeal.

Yes. Composite decks are ideal for clay soil because they don't rot if moisture reaches the substructure. We use pressure-treated joists and proper grading to shed water away from the deck frame, protecting your investment in humid conditions.
